Privacy Policy

The short version: this site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and no advertising trackers, and asks you for nothing. The only personal information we hold is what you choose to email us.

Last updated 14 August 2026

This policy explains how Standard Thinking (“we”, “us”) handles personal information in connection with standardthinking.com (the “Site”).

What we collect

Nothing you do not send us. The Site has no accounts, no forms, no cookies, no analytics, no advertising or social trackers, and no embedded third-party content that could profile you. We do not fingerprint your device, and we do not sell or share personal information.

Server logs. Our hosting provider records ordinary technical information when your browser requests a page — IP address, timestamp, requested path, response status and user agent. This is standard operational logging used to serve the Site, diagnose faults and protect against abuse. It is retained for a short period and then discarded.

Email you send us. If you write to us — about a role, a partnership or anything else — we hold that message and whatever you put in it, including any attachments, for as long as needed to deal with it and to keep a reasonable record.

Why we may process it

  • To operate, secure and maintain the Site — our legitimate interest in running a functioning, non-abused service.
  • To respond to you and, where relevant, to assess an application — our legitimate interest in recruiting and in conducting our business, and steps taken at your request.
  • To comply with legal obligations where they apply.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We rely on a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf under contract:

  • Fly.io — hosting and content delivery for the Site, which entails the server logging described above.
  • Google Workspace — our email, which is where messages you send us are stored.

We may also disclose information where legally required, or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

International transfers

We are based in the United States and our providers process data there. If you contact us from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection rules than your own jurisdiction.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to complain to your data protection authority. Because we collect so little, honouring a request is usually a matter of finding and deleting an email thread.

To exercise any of these, write to privacy@standardthinking.com. We may need to confirm your identity before acting.

Applicants

If you apply to us, we keep your application and our notes on it for as long as needed to run the process and for a reasonable period afterwards, in case a suitable role opens. Tell us if you would rather we deleted it, and we will.

Children

The Site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

Changes

If our practices change — for instance if we add analytics or a contact form — we will update this page and the date above before or when that change takes effect.
